Privacy.
FIXME handles screenshots of your app and your code. This page says exactly where they go, which is almost nowhere.
The short version
- Tickets (notes, circles, screenshots, UI trees, logs, network requests, clips) are saved on your Mac and are not uploaded to FIXME.
- Voice is turned into text on your device. The audio is not uploaded.
- FIXME has no analytics and no trackers, in the app and on this website.
- The only things the app itself sends over the internet are update checks, license requests and, if you pair a phone and are away from your network, end-to-end encrypted relay traffic.
- When you send a ticket to an AI agent, the agent gets it. That part is between you and the agent, and is covered below.
What stays on your Mac
- Tickets. Each ticket is a folder in
~/FIXME/tickets: your note, your circles, screenshots, the UI tree, console lines, network requests, a timeline, device facts (model, OS, text size, dark mode, locale, build), the git branch and the names of uncommitted files, and a clip if you made one. You can delete any of it by deleting the folder. - Redaction. Before a ticket is saved, keys, tokens, cookies, authorization headers, card numbers, emails, phone numbers and sensitive URL values in text are replaced. Screenshots and clips show what was on screen, so look before you send.
- Settings and your license. Settings are stored on your Mac. Your license key and token are stored in the macOS Keychain.
- The local server. FIXME runs a server for your agent at
127.0.0.1. It accepts only connections from your own Mac, and refuses requests from web pages and other hosts.
Voice
Speech is recognized on your Mac, and on your phone if you use the helper, with on-device recognition. The audio is not sent to FIXME or to Apple's servers for recognition. The microphone listens on the Mac only when you hold the mic or say "FIXME", and on the phone only while your app is open on screen. One device listens at a time, and the menu bar shows which.
What FIXME sends, and to whom
| To | When | What |
|---|---|---|
| Your AI agent | When you send a ticket, and when your agent asks for more through the local tools | The ticket text, and screenshots or frames the agent asks for. The agent may pass them to its own model provider. FIXME doesn't control that, so check your agent's privacy terms. |
| FIXME update feed updates.getfixme.dev | About once a day while FIXME is running and online. Turn it off in Settings, General, Updates. | A request for the list of versions. Like any request, it carries your IP address, and it names the app and its version. FIXME's update system (Sparkle) is set not to send a system profile, so nothing about your Mac's hardware or software is sent. If there is a new version, FIXME downloads it from the same place. |
| FIXME license service license.getfixme.dev | When you activate, move or deactivate a license, and about once a day while online | Your license key, your Mac's name, a salted hash of your Mac's hardware ID (never the ID itself), and your signed license token. The service checks your key with Polar, and gives Polar the Mac's name, the hash and the country the request came from, so the activation shows in your Polar customer portal. Like any server, it sees your IP address. When a license moves we record the time, the country and the Mac's name. |
| FIXME relay relay.getfixme.dev | Only if you paired a phone and it can't reach your Mac on your network. You can turn it off in Settings, Network. | Encrypted frames. The relay can't read them. It sees a random pairing id, timing, sizes and the IP addresses connecting, and it doesn't store ticket content. |
Nothing else is sent.
The phone helpers
The iOS and React Native helpers run in Debug builds only. They talk to your own Mac: over a USB cable, over your local network (sealed with a key after you approve the phone), or through the encrypted relay above. They send nothing to any other server. A new phone has to be approved on your Mac with a 4 digit code shown on both screens before anything it sends is delivered.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no ads, no third-party fonts, scripts or embeds. The pages load only from this site, and a content security policy enforces it.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare sees your IP address and request details to serve and protect the site, under its own privacy policy.
- The activation page reads your license key from the part of the link after the
#. Browsers never send that part to a server, and the page makes no network requests at all, so the key stays in your tab. - The Download button fetches the app from
updates.getfixme.dev, also served by Cloudflare.
Buying FIXME
Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record. Polar collects your name, email, billing details and payment information, calculates tax and issues the receipt, under its own privacy policy. FIXME never sees your card.
Polar also creates your license key and emails it with your receipt. It stays in your Polar customer portal. When you activate it, FIXME's license service checks the key with Polar. The service reads your email address from Polar only to make a masked hint (like j***@example.com) for your license token, and doesn't store the address. What it keeps is: a one-way hash of your key, Polar's id for the key, the masked hint, your Mac's name and salted hash, and a record of each time you moved the license (when, which country, which Mac name).
Keeping and deleting
License records are kept while your license is active. If you ask for a refund, Polar revokes the key and the license stops working. To see, correct or delete anything we hold about you, write to general@getfixme.dev. Anything stored on your Mac is yours to delete.
Children
FIXME is a tool for software developers and is not directed at children.
